Brooking Channel Bridge

The existing Brooking Channel Bridge is one of seven remaining single lane bridges on Great Northern Highway. While it was not critically damaged by the January 2023 flooding event, it remains a 100-metre single lane bridge that does not have the same durability as the new Fitzroy River Bridge.

In March 2024 Pearl Coast Cranes worked along side Fitzroy Bridge Alliance to replace the Brooking Channel Bridge to include a two lane bridge and a footpath along side it. The Brooking Channel Bridge was open to traffic on 13 November 2024.
