Fitzroy River Bridge

In December 2022 flooding was generated by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie which caused significant damage to the sections of Great Northern Highway at Fitzroy Crossing in the Kimberley.

The Fitzroy River Bridge, just east of Fitzroy Crossing was significantly damaged, along with 500 metres of road, cutting access to Aboriginal communities east of the Fitzroy River as well as the East Kimberley and Northern Territory.

From March through to December 2023 Pearl Coast Cranes worked along side Fitzroy Bridge Alliance in the construction of the new two lane bridge. The Fitzroy River Bridge officially opened to traffic on 10 December 2023, six months ahead of schedule.
